In scripture we learn that the God who created the universe is not transcendent, unable to be reached, far from us. Instead our God is one who makes themselves known to us, a personal God who knows each of us by name. We worship a God who loved us so much that God became human in the person of Jesus Christ so that we may be in close relationship with God.
