Wandering Heart: Teach Me | Rev. Steve Jones

Passage: Matthew 18: 21-35

"Then Peter came and said to him, “Lord, if my brother or sister sins against me, how often should I forgive? As many as seven times?” Jesus said to him, “Not seven times, but, I tell you, seventy-seven times." -Matthew 18:21-22

Forgiveness can be one of the most difficult practices that Christ calls us to practice. In our scriptural lesson we see a version of Peter eager to learn, hungry for a teacher. He asks Jesus a question many of us have certainly asked in prayer, what does forgiving a brother or sister look like? how often should I forgive? Jesus does not give a simple answer to Peter's request, stating that forgiveness is in fact infinite. That not even seven times reaches the vastness of God's forgiveness and grace. Join us this Sunday as we unpack the powerful command of Christ to forgive.
