Lord, Teach Us to Pray: Our Father Sermon | Pastor Jan Phillips
I was recently asked when I learned the Lord’s Prayer. I thought about it for a minute or two and realized that I could not recall at what age I learned this particular prayer; however, what I did remember is WHO taught me the prayer. You know, throughout the world many Christians recite the Lord’s Prayer weekly in worship. And yet, all too often, this prayer is said from rote as a ritual without knowing what the prayer truly means. In our sermon series, we are examining the Lord’s Prayer to better understand its meaning so that when we pray this prayer, we will connect with God and with each other like never before. This week, we consider what the phrase “Our Father” actually means. For me, it goes back to the WHO that taught me the prayer to begin with. So I ask you, WHO taught YOU the Lord’s prayer?
