Wandering Heart: Jesus Sought Me Sermon | Rev. Steve Jones

Passage: Luke 5:1-11

“O to grace how great a debtor daily I’m constrained to be! Let thy goodness, like a fetter, bind my wandering heart to thee. Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, prone to leave the God I love; here’s my heart, O take and seal it, seal it for thy courts above.” -Come Thou Fount v. 3

It is easy to see ourselves in the disciple Peter, he is both steadfast and unsteady, a dear friend and a betrayer, a follower and a wanderer. Throughout the scriptures, Peter’s humanity is front and center, and like Peter our journey as those who follow Christ, is a journey of wandering. Some weeks the love of God and neighbor is front and center. Other weeks we fail and require the unfailing grace of God. This Lent we will be explore a sermon series focused on Peter’s journey with Christ titled Wandering Heart. Join us this Sunday as we explore the call of Peter and how Jesus seeks us all for the work of the kingdom of God.
