Calvary Christmas Drive

What is the Christmas Giveaway?
For many years, the Calvary community has supported our neighbors with gifts and food at Christmas time. We work with the TWU organization to coordinate folks who will be receiving the gifts and food. Over time, this event, held annually at Christmastime has changed shifted to other more food and necessities to families so that they can better provide for themselves at this time of year. Last year and this year, we will serve 100 families. Coats, food, toiletries and paper products will be distributed on December 14, from 2-4. Volunteers from the Calvary community will be handing out these gifts.

You can contribute in four ways:
1. Provide groceries for a family. Lists of suggested items are provided. Bags will be available to be picked up from Margaret Taylor on November 17 at church or coffee hour. Groceries must be returned by December 12, 3pm.
2. Bring gently used and new coats. MaryKate Dougherty and her helpers are sorting, checking and preparing the coats for our guests to “shop”. Last year, we provided 450 men, women and children with coats. Coats can be left in the back of the sanctuary.
3. Become an angel donor for items personal care and household items. Items on the list include bags of Masa or oil for the food bags, or soap for the giveaway. These items can be shipped directly from Amazon.
4. Volunteer to help on the day of the event. Contact family@calmeth.org to sign up. People are needed to hand out bags, carry bags to cars, maintain a snack table, and help with coat selection. You may volunteer for a part of the time or the whole time. Spanish speaking volunteers are also needed.

Because of your generosity, 100 families will receive much-needed items to make their Christmas joy-filled. Questions? Please talk with Beth or e-mail family@calmeth.org

GIVE

Lastly, one way always to serve is by giving financially. Giving helps Calvary engage in missions in the community throughout the year. We hope you will consider giving to our Calvary Church fund.

We Need Volunteers!

Would you like to volunteer to help those in need in our community? We need volunteers who are willing to purchase food and package lunches which will go to those in need in the Arlington area.

Every Friday, food is distributed to folks in Arlington through social services and churches in Arlington. Most of the people who receive these items experience homelessness and hunger on a regular basis.

This mission can be done at home with family pods, and can be done in about 3 hours. Sign up below.
